History of the Ranch
Maintaining Continuity While Improving the Land
Willow-Witt Ranch is proud to be a good steward of the earth. We work every day to provide sustainably-produced food, products and services for the local community while enhancing the health of our land, water, and air, as well as the health of ourselves, our family, our employees, and the community.
The terrain here supports ecologically complex systems, enhanced through responsible management techniques and low-impact production methods. Dairy cows and beef cattle have grazed here seasonally for more than 100 years, but are now fenced out of critical wetland habitat as part of our restoration efforts. Beginning in 1985, when we became stewards of this land, we have prioritized forest restoration and sensible land-use. Today, goats provide the basis of our dairy operation, as we've developed an increasingly sustainable relationship with the land while maintaining continuity with the agricultural history of the ranch.
Willow-Witt Ranch has been breeding, training, raising and selling goats since 1991, supplying Northwest communities with pack goats, milk goats, and goat meat. Our goats free range through spacious pastures and forestlands, while we protect sensitive wetland areas from browsing altogether. We've integrated our ranching operation to utilize our plant and animal byproducts in the making of organic compost, which we provide for you to add nutrients to your gardens. In addition, we raise and sell organically-fed pigs that enjoy an outdoor living area. These sustainably-raised specialty hogs can be pre-purchased prior to the growing season and are processed each fall. Every week we also produce fresh goat milk and farm-fresh eggs. We've implemented a pastured poultry operation including layers and broilers, and we look forward to monitoring what nutrient inputs and health benefits these hens can symbiotically provide for our pastures and livestock. At this time we are applying for Organic Livestock Production Certification, and passionately believe organic farming makes the difference we need as farmers and consumers.

Farm Activities
We enjoy hosting the public at our open barn weekends, birding with the Klamath Bird Observatory, offering tours of the ranch, and packing goats and a lunch for a trail hike up Grizzly Peak for summer wildflowers and spectacular views. We also host guests through our Farm Stay Program, providing the opportunity to live and work on a sustainable historic ranch in the Southern Cascades. We offer a range of accommodations including a studio that sleeps four, furnished wall tents set in the wildflower meadows, and a campground with private tent sights, hot showers, and a full outdoor kitchen. Please select an item from the menu at left to learn more about what we have to offer you.
